Where To Place A Floor Lamp In Your Living Room

The first rule to finding a place for your floor lamp is to ensure it is not in the way of traffic in the room. A floor lamp is large and will be obstructive if placed in the centre of the room. Generally, the best place for a floor lamp is in a corner of a room, or behind an armchair or sofa. This allows it to be away from footfall while allowing you to use the lamp for accent lighting, or for task lighting if you need a reading light.
